In Beijing,There are some IT areas.such as the famous one which called zhongguancun area.It's in the northwest of Beijing,and very busy at weekend.Digital cameras, and notebook computers are generally 15-20% more expensive than in Hong Kong or the US. Some newer high-end smartphones are more expensive than abroad while others are at about the same price. All phones sold here are unlocked. Desktops PCs cost about the same with the exception of Apple products which also command a 15%-20% premium here. However, purchases in English can still be made by email or phone.
Accessories are reasonably priced. So are low-end printers for home use. However, professional-grade printers and scanners cost up to 20-30% more. English language boxed software is also sold at a premium and there is often a of 1-2 week lead-time for English versions of specialist titles. However, download versions of many titles can now be bought online.
